Our New Forest Show top tips!

The countdown is on for the start of next week’s New Forest Show taking place on the 25-27th July. One of the best agricultural shows in the country its three days jam packed full of activities and events. Attracting over 95,000 visitors from all over the show really does showcase the best that the Forest has to offer from agriculture, forestry, equestrianism, horticulture, food and drink.

Here are our top 5 New Forest Show recommendations:

Don’t forget to take the kids- Here at Stanwell House we love welcoming children and dogs to stay with us. Both are very welcome at the Show and younger visitors will be in their element in the family area. Art, crafts and a programme of entertainment takes places all day and with tractor tug of war, ferret racing and the chance to meet all the farm yard animals at the ‘Show Farm’ you will have trouble dragging your kids away!

A fly by the main ring– Whilst you may be forgiven for loosing yourself in the endless shopping and stalls no trip to the show is complete without an afternoon of watching the main ring. From pony club mounted games, motocross displays of the infamous show jumping competitions the main ring is at the heart of the action.

Feast your eyes on floral delights-Although we are very proud of our garden here at the hotel this really is Hampshire’s answer to the Chelsea Flower Show! The floral section of show is sure to dazzle with its beautifully manicured gardens, flower arranging competitions and wide array of breathtaking flowers and plants.

The food market-We will forgive you for skipping breakfast to make room for the endless delights the show has to offer! The New Forest boasts some wonderful gastronomic experiences and the local produce market gives you the opportunity to meet local suppliers and buy their produce. Make sure to check out The Garden Tea room- a new addition to the show this year.

Shop til you drop– With over 600 stands there really is something from everyone. From fashion to jewellery to art and crafts peruse your away around before relaxing at the main ring. We promise to be on hand to help carry your bags from the front door to your room.

One of our team would be delighted to help you with your travel plans- there is a free shuttle running from Brockenhurst train station or we can help you hire bikes to arrive in true New Forest fashion! Please note parking is available but you may experience long queues.
